Food waste disposers
A food waste disposer fits under the sink and grinds waste to the drain, removing the bio bin and its smell.
What to check
- How it works — there are no blades: waste is thrown against a grind ring by centrifugal force, so it never goes blunt.
- What can go in — food scraps, peelings, egg shells, small bones and coffee grounds — always run cold water.
- Noise — newer models are sound-insulated and run for seconds rather than half a minute.
- Installation — needs space in the sink cabinet and a power supply; fits the standard 90 mm outlet.
