The air switch
A disposer is not switched on from a wall switch but from a pneumatic button set into the worktop or the sink. The button works on air rather than electricity, so pressing it with wet hands is safe. It is ordered separately and can be matched to the finish of the tap.
What to check before installing
The unit mounts under the sink waste and needs clear height in the sink cabinet and a socket nearby. It suits a standard 90 mm waste. The dishwasher hose connects straight to the disposer, so no separate connection is needed. See sinks
Everyday use
Run cold water, switch the unit on, and feed waste in gradually. Cold water keeps fat solid so it leaves with the water. Do not feed in large amounts of fibrous peel, plastic film or metal.
