Choosing a built-in coffee machine comes down to three decisions: built-in or freestanding, a removable water tank or a fixed connection, and a fully automatic bean-to-cup machine or a semi-automatic espresso machine. This guide covers all three.

Built-in or freestanding

A built-in coffee machine mounts into the kitchen column, usually in a 45 cm niche alongside other appliances — blends into the kitchen run, with the control panel visible along the top edge of the door. We carry built-in models from Miele, Gaggenau, Neff, Teka and others.

A freestanding coffee machine sits on the counter like a regular kitchen appliance — no cabinetry cutout needed, but it takes up counter space and the cables stay visible.

Water supply: tank or fixed connection

Water supply: tank or fixed connection Removable water tank Fill it by hand, works without installing a water line Fixed water connection Never needs refilling, but needs a water line run into the cabinetry

A removable tank fits any kitchen; a fixed connection needs a water line run into the cabinetry, but frees you from refilling by hand.

A machine with a removable water tank fits into any kitchen cabinetry without extra plumbing work — you refill and empty the tank by hand from time to time. A machine with a fixed water connection (e.g. Miele "DirectWater") is plumbed straight into the house's water supply, so the tank never needs refilling — convenient if coffee gets made often, but it requires running a water line into the cabinetry, which needs planning ahead.

Fully automatic or semi-automatic

A fully automatic bean-to-cup machine grinds the beans, tamps, and brews at the push of one button — a built-in grinder and often a milk system for cappuccino too. Most built-in models in our range are fully automatic.

A semi-automatic espresso machine needs ground coffee or a pod and more hands-on operation, but gives an experienced user finer control over the espresso extraction.

Our range

We carry both built-in and freestanding models — Miele, Gaggenau, Neff, Teka, Asko and Küppersbusch. Every product page lists the mounting type, water supply type and dimensions — check these before ordering, especially if you're fitting a built-in model into an existing kitchen column.
