What to check

Niche height — 88, 122, 140 and 178 cm are the common sizes; 88 cm fits under a worktop.
Fresh zone — a drawer near 0 °C extends the life of vegetables, meat and fish several times over.
Ventilation — air must move through the plinth and the top of the cabinet — a sealed recess shortens compressor life.
Door fixing — sliding fixings are more forgiving to fit; fixed hinges give a more precise alignment.

A fridge only, no freezer

These are refrigerators whose whole volume is refrigeration. They suit a household where the freezer is a separate appliance or where there is little to freeze. The full cabinet height goes to fresh food, which means more shelves and a better overview.

Niche dimensions

The common heights are 88, 122, 140 and 178 cm. 88 cm fits under a worktop, 178 cm is a full-height housing. Measure the niche before ordering — a couple of centimetres decides whether the appliance fits.

Fresh zone

A drawer held near 0 °C at higher humidity extends the life of vegetables, meat and fish several times over. In a fridge-only appliance that zone is usually larger than in a combined unit.
