Kitchen taps
Choosing a kitchen tap comes down to three questions: do you want a pull-out spray, do you need filtered or boiling water, and how tall a spout fits under your cabinets.
What to check
- Spout height and reach — a tall spout makes filling large pots easy — check it clears a window sill if the tap sits under one.
- Hole and worktop thickness — most need a 35 mm hole; thick stone may call for an extended fixing kit.
- Pull-out spray — the single most useful addition — rinsing and filling pots get far easier.
- Filtered water — 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 models deliver filtered or boiling water through a separate channel.
- Finish — chrome is the most durable; matt black and copper show water marks more.
