Ceramic kitchen sinks
A ceramic sink is fired clay under a glaze — the same material as a good bathroom basin, only much thicker.
What to check
- Durability — the glaze is non-porous: acid, heat and pigments leave no mark.
- Impact — the one real limit — a heavy cast-iron pot on the rim can chip it.
- Weight and cabinet — often over 30 kg, which needs a reinforced unit and careful fitting.
- Mounting — top-mount is simplest; undermounting needs a load-bearing structure.
- Colour — white suits a classic kitchen, graphite and black a contemporary one.
