Choosing kitchen appliances around the kitchen plan

Built-in appliances are usually bought together, because their dimensions determine the cabinetry. The most expensive mistake is ordering the furniture before the appliances — you then have to choose appliances to fit a niche rather than to fit your needs.

What order to choose in

Start with the hob and the extraction, because they fix the core of the kitchen and the ventilation. Then the oven and where it goes — at eye level in a tall housing is more comfortable and safer than under the hob. Only then the fridge, the dishwasher and extras like a coffee machine or a vacuum drawer.

Niche dimensions worth knowing

Ovens and dishwashers come in standard sizes: an oven is 60 × 60 cm, a dishwasher 60 or 45 cm wide. Compact series appliances are 45 cm high, which means one tall housing takes two appliances instead of one — typically an oven and a steam oven, or an oven and a coffee machine. Fridges are chosen by niche height: 88, 122, 140 or 178 cm.

One manufacturer or a mix

Appliances from one maker look consistent — the same handle profile, the same control logic, the same finish. It shows most when appliances sit side by side or stacked. A mix makes sense when one manufacturer is clearly stronger in a category — ILVE range cookers or ASKO laundry, for instance.

Energy class and real running cost

Since 2021 the label runs A–G, where A is genuinely rare. The class is worth watching on a fridge and a dishwasher, because they run continuously. On an oven the difference is smaller, since the running time is short.

Installation and service

Built-in appliances need correct ventilation, particularly a fridge and an oven. Gas appliances may only be installed by a qualified fitter. We arrange delivery and installation across Estonia; the premium brands also have authorised service in Estonia, which means original parts and the warranty staying intact.
