Short answer. Yes, a kitchen tap can deliver filtered, boiling or sparkling water, but the tap is only the visible half. Most systems put a filter under the sink, and boiling or sparkling water adds a boiler, or a chiller and a CO₂ cylinder, plus mains power. Decide which of the three you want first, then check your cabinet.
1. The three types
- Filtered-water tap. The water comes either from a separate outlet or from the main spout. Blanco's EVOL-S Pro manual describes two separate outlets, one for ordinary tap water and one for boiling or filtered water. Franke's Vital tap holds its filter capsule in the tap body.
- Boiling-water tap. An under-sink boiler heats the water and the tap releases it on demand. Blanco, Franke and Nobili all describe a boiler unit of about 4 L.
- Still and sparkling (and chilled) water. A chiller cools the water and a CO₂ cylinder supplies the gas. Guglielmi describes its PURA tap as combining up to five functions: filtered still, chilled still, chilled sparkling, boiling and ordinary tap water.
Per our product listings, "G100" in Guglielmi model names marks the hot-water (100 °C) function, and "2in1" to "5in1" counts the functions. We found no official definition of either, so treat them as a guide to the listing and check the product page.
2. What goes under the sink
Each brand states its own figures, and they differ, so we show them side by side without ranking them.
| Unit | Figures from the manufacturer |
|---|---|
| Blanco Hot Boiler 4 L | 4 L titanium boiler, 229 mm diameter × 337 mm, 2100 W, hot water 100–105 °C, about 15 minutes to heat up, inlet pressure 1–5 bar, supplied safety module |
| Franke Maris (brochure) | 4 L tank, 2100 W, 100 °C, 15 minutes heat-up time, ø229 × 340 mm, 1–5 bar |
| Nobili Sorgente (Frizza & Bolle) | boiling at 99 °C, up to 1.7 L chilled below 10 °C, 1800 W, unit 520 × 200 × 440 mm |
| Guglielmi accessory boiler SO16000 | 3 L stainless steel, 85–98 °C |
| Guglielmi accessory chillers SO16002, SO16085 | 3 L, 3–10 °C |
We found no power or socket details for the Guglielmi units, so check the product sheet. For the Blanco boiler, the manual asks for an upright boiler close to the tap, in a frost-free room, on a safety socket that stays accessible, and with a drain for the safety module. Compare the free space in your cabinet with the unit before ordering; our guide to sink size and cabinet width helps with the cabinet side.
3. Filters
Capacity depends on water hardness, so use these as the manufacturers' reference figures. Blanco quotes its Soft S and Soft Magnesium M figures at 12 °dGH.
| Filter | Stated capacity | Replace |
|---|---|---|
| Blanco Soft S | 670 L | within 12 months at most |
| Blanco Soft Magnesium M | 520 L | within 12 months at most |
| Blanco Microplastic S | 1,500 L | within 12 months at most |
| Guglielmi RO16078 | 10,000 L | within 10 months |
| Guglielmi RO16076 | 1,700 L | within 10 months of activation |
| Franke Pro M (supplied with Maris) | 1,700 L | every 6 to 12 months, depending on water hardness (brochure) |
Blanco specifies cold potable water only for its filters, and Guglielmi does the same for the RO16076. Franke says its Pro M filter protects the boiler from limescale, and Blanco designs its Hot Boiler for water up to 12 °dTH. Flush a new filter before drinking: Guglielmi says to run the RO16078 for five minutes, and Blanco's EVOL-S Pro manual says at least 10 litres.
4. CO₂ for sparkling water
Sparkling water needs a CO₂ cylinder. Guglielmi lists its RO16004 cylinder as "425 g / 60 L" and describes the duration as 1 litre a day for 3 months. The real figure varies with water hardness and the gas setting on the cylinder. Store cylinders somewhere cool and ventilated. The RO16004 cylinder and the RO16076 and RO16078 filters are in our range.
5. Safety
Boiling water needs respect. Blanco states these features:
- a safety module supplied with the Hot Boiler;
- on the EVOL-S Pro, hot mode is active for 8 seconds, then a safety mode starts for 5 minutes in which the sensor will not dispense;
- the manual warns that the first 100 ml can be very hot.
Other brands describe their own protections: Guglielmi lists an anti-scald safety lock on the AP64050, Franke describes a child-safe push-and-turn control on the electronic Maris, and Nobili describes a child-lock on the Bolle. Read your model's manual for the exact operation and child-supervision rules before installing.
6. How to choose
| You want | You need under the sink |
|---|---|
| Filtered drinking water only | a filter on the cold-water line (Franke's Vital instead holds its filter capsule in the tap body) |
| Boiling water | a boiler and mains power, usually with a filter |
| Sparkling water | a chiller, a CO₂ cylinder and mains power, usually with a filter |
Measure the free space in your sink cabinet first: a boiler, a chiller and a cylinder all take room next to the waste fittings and any sink accessories. If you also want a pull-out spray, see pull-out spray taps. Check the hole and worktop requirements in the manual of the model you choose.
7. What we stock

FAQ
Can I get sparkling water from the tap?
Yes, with a model that includes a chiller and a CO₂ cylinder, such as Guglielmi PURA or Nobili Sorgente, both of which describe chilled sparkling water. Both brands are in the category above.
How often do filters need replacing?
It depends on the filter and your water. Blanco states 12 months at most, Guglielmi 10 months from activation, and Franke 6 to 12 months depending on hardness.
How long does a CO₂ cylinder last?
Guglielmi lists its 425 g cylinder (RO16004) as "425 g / 60 L" and describes it as 1 litre a day for 3 months. Water hardness and the gas setting change this.
Is the water really boiling?
It depends on the brand: Blanco states 100–105 °C, Franke 100 °C, Nobili 99 °C, and Guglielmi's accessory boiler 85–98 °C. We found no stated temperature for the PURA tap itself, so check the listing.
